THE FOURTH CONGRESSO INTERNACIONAL DE
PROJECIOLOGIA INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF
CONSCIOUSNESS RESEARCH AUGUST 15-17, 2008 THE CUTTING
EDGE OF THE NEW PARADIGM AND CONSCIOUSNESS RESEARCH IS COMING OUT OF BRAZIL We have
known for forty years that the mind can change the brain. In 1969 Nature published an article
by Paul Bach-y-Rita documenting that mental training can reprogram the
brain so that blind people can see.
In 2001 a Nobel Prize was given to the scientist showing that the
mind can turn on and off DNA. In 2009 Michael Merzenich is developing
computer software to treat autism, aging, and memory loss. (The Brain
That Changes Itself. Norman
Doidge Viking 2007) Scientific American, in February 2009 acknowledged that
the Universe is “non-local”, opening the door to the
possibility that our minds came first, and then the physical world followed
afterwards. SO WHY
NO GENERAL UNDERSTANDING OF THIS IN OUR WORLDWIDE CULTURE, ESPECIALLY
WESTERN CULTURE? It’s
not common sense to us! We
won’t believe that we are minds without bodies until we experience it
for ourselves.

THE MOTTO
OF CIPRO IS DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING NOT EVEN WHAT WE TELL YOU. HAVE
YOUR OWN EXPERIENCES AND LEARN FROM THEM
The Institute Internacional De Projeciologia e Conscienciologia is dedicated to teaching the general public how to have the out of body experience. As of August of 2008, they had taught 197,000 people to have the experience in their “Cognopolis” in Brazil.
Wild? Flamboyant? You bet! Yet don’t let that distract anyone from realizing that this is a serious group of scientists and physicians who are actively researching the clinical and brain aspects of quantum non-locality.
They have two significant missions: 1) Training the general
public to have the out of body experience.
They have no religious or spiritual hidden agenda. Their founder Professor Vieira is up
front about living dozens of past lives and remembering them all. 2) Studying the science of the out of body experience. The young scientists and physicians who
are the intellectual core of his organization are just as up front about saying
“If Professor Vieira
believes
in reincarnation, that is a phenomena to be studied. If we insist that everyone believe what
he believes that is (unacceptably) religion. (Below and to the Left: Dr.
Eduardo Martin at his hospital)
We will not understand the recent scientific advances of the past twenty years, and actively integrate into our culture and personal lives, unless we are able to do what the Brazilians are doing. Change the worldview of the culture.
The Brazilian Spiritist Organization of retired Obstetrician/Gynecologist Dr. Marlene Nobre, and the Albert Einstein Brain Science Research Institute, in Sao Paolo, are also doing this outstanding work at using science to change the spiritual consciousness of the world. The Brazilian Spiritist Organization, which has common roots with CIPRO, has recently held their second Spiritist Medical Conference in the United States (October 2008) and I will have a separate report on them.
The types of talks at the recent CIPRO conference included 1) Sleep disorders and their relationship to the out of body experience. 2) Stages of Lucid dreaming and out of body projections 3) Self organization as it applies to the ability to project out of the body. 4) Learning self knowledge as a part of the out of body experience 5) Scientific analysis of the results of lucid dreaming and
out of body projection, and of course my talk on 6) Mind Without Brain: The Scientific Implications of the Near Death Experience. 7) There were additionally numerous practical talks for the general public on how to have the experience.
They do also have a sister organization which is starting to teach the out of body experience in the United States and Europe. It is run by the husband and wife team Wagner Alegretti and Nanci Trivellato, The International Academy of Consciousness (iac.org).
Dr. Alegretti did a brilliant study of out of body perceptions in which the viewers successfully viewed a wineglass. A pdf file of this study is in the references page of this website. It was done with 200 viewers in Spain, and remains one of the best scientific studies of “out of body perceptions / remote viewing” in the literature.
I will be taking his out of body
perception course in 2009 and will compare it to the training I have already
received in remote
viewing
and give you a full report.
What to say about Professor Waldo Vieira? Oy vey. Well he did dramatically interrupt his talk to directly look at me, and speak clearly in English (His talk was in Portuguese) and say “old friend, it is so good to see you again”. Since I had never met him before, I was a little astonished. When I asked him about it later, he stated that if I didn’t remember our past lives together, it was not up to him to remind me!
He has also written one of the most definitive books on spiritual phenomena called Projectology. It is 800 pages jam packed with excellent discussions and descriptions of every psychic phenomenon you can imagine, and it is in both English and Portuguese. Any consciousness researcher needs a copy of it, and you can get it through his organization. It is a nice example of how out of body experiences occur to the right brain, as it is a gigantic list of every spiritual and psychic phenomena every reported in any culture, but absolutely NO ANALYSIS. It is a marvelously pure right brain text and I know of no other work like it.
Professor Vieira’s life seems to have been lifted directly from a Jorge Amado novel about Brazil. He is fascinating, completely ego driven, and yet astonishingly child like and “clear” of the effects of his ego on his organization. He seems to have found that perfect balance of crazed ego driven ambition coupled with the ability to inspire a second generation of scientists and physicians who have created an organization that will continue on independent of him. Not an easy thing to achieve.

This is one of the greatest
lessons the United States can learn from Brazil. Our cultural attitude is that exploring
spirituality, remote viewing and out of body states is for “woo-woo
types” who are not intellectual or analytic, but rather willing to
believe anything. Most scientists
in this country would be turned off immediately by the flamboyant nature of
Professor Vieira and dismiss anything he had to say. In Brazil, it is the intellectual
elite who study and understand spirituality. They immediately understand the
association between quantum non locality and the ability to remote view or have
out of body perceptions. Never was
this more obvious when I was recently in Boulder Colorado. In Boulder, they described themselves as
isolated against the rest of the country because they attempted to understand
non locality and spirituality. In
Brazil, Dalmo is the poster child for the typical person learning about spirituality,
highly analytic, left brained, and extremely intelligent.
Here are some
other pictures of Belo Horizonte, and my CIPRO visit. Left is Dr. Alegretti
Belo
Horizonte. Next is Dr. Roberto, who
is an Intensive Care Unit Physician who works with Professor Vieira.

(To
the left is the CIPRO brain trust.)
Next is Dalmo, one of their hundreds of amazing volunteers. Dalmo is a typical CIPRO member, highly
educated and intelligent. He does some sort of specialized highly technical
stuff he explained to me again and again and I didn’t get what exactly it
was other than that it was consulting and pretty left brained.
