Dr. Morse is experiencing some extremely difficult personal challenges. He will not comment on, nor make this site a source of discussion of those challenges. This site is for grieving parents, victims of spiritual and emotional trauma, and others struggling to understand this spiritual journey we call life.

LEARNING FROM THE NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE
"If an angel spoke to you today, would you listen? How would you know it was real? How could you trust what the angel had to say?"
What is a Near Death Experience
MELVIN L MORSE MD FAAP
One mission is to promote an understanding that we all have a "God Spot" in our brain which permits communication with a source of wisdom and knowledge that exists outside our physical bodies. Our organization wants to explore and promote the practical applications of understanding this new paradigm of consciousness.
I don't "believe in" near death experiences. It is my opinion that the scientific research validates that near death experiences are real. The science of 2014 indicates that we all have a "god spot" or (as per Mario Beauregard MD) a "god brain" that connects us with the divine, the all knowledge timeless space-less domain.
Children who have experienced this all knowledge domain describe it as a "light that had a lot of good things in it" (age 5), or "I saw the sun and it had a happy face for me" (a 3 y/o),"you'll see, Dr. Morse, heaven is fun"(age 7), most intriguingly, "I went into a huge noodle when I died, well it must have been a tunnel because I don't think noodles have rainbows in them.(age 5).
Dr. Morse's research, as well as the research of many others, clearly documents that we are conscious, aware, and have an expanded sense of consciousness beyond the boundaries of our body, at the point of death. This is true even if the dying person seems comatose. Therefore, consciousness is not dependent on normal brain function.
Why is there any controversy that consciousness survives the death of the brain?
All of the many researchers published in mainstream scientific and medical journals agree it is true. The opposing point of view can be summarized as "I don't believe it!" The reason they don't "believe" it is that it doesn't fit into the current scientific materialistic world view. This is why we need a new scientific paradigm to reflect current knowledge that conflicts with our current scientific theories.
"THE FUNDAMENTAL CHALLENGE OF NEUROSCIENCE TODAY IS TO UNDERSTAND HOW CONSCIOUSNESS CAN PERSIST AT THE POINT OF DEATH, EVEN IN DYING DYSFUNCTIONAL BRAINS" (Bruce Greyson, Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry, at the University of Virginia.)
As a Critical Care Physician, children would tell me of their near death experiences, and then ask me "but was it real Dr. Morse. Because if it was real, then you have to tell all the old people". Grieving parents would have the same question, about the "crazy dream" they had of their children returning to them after death, or other spiritual events surrounding dying.
I took seriously their questions and felt an obligation to not only answer if their experiences were real, but how they could occur from a scientific point of view. Spiritual Neuroscience is the result of my obligation to those children and parents who shared with me their experiences and questions.

I began my career in Critical Care Medicine. I cared for hundreds of critically ill children, while working for Air Lift Northwest. My goal is to be part of a proces to nurture our innate spirituality to better understand the grieving process. When parents have visions or intuitions about their child who have passed, they often wonder if they can trust and believe their own spiritual experiences. These same spiritual experiences can often contain the seeds of healing grief and trauma.

The long awaited reunion of science and spirituality is close at hand. It is commonly thought that science debunks spirituality, including spiritual visions and near death experiences. The new sciences of the 21st Century, including information theory and functional neurogenesis support the concept that spiritual visions are real, not fantasies of the mind.

Our Long term Goals
1. To help grieving parents understand that their spiritual visions are real, we want to publish small solid serious articles in the mainstream scientific and medical literature on practical aspects of using spirituality in medical care. By influencing health care professionals we want to create a more accepting climate for spiritual visions.
2. To create practical therapies which utilize spiritual visions in a controlled way in the therapist's office. These will be used for treating post-traumatic stress syndrome, autism, death and dying, complex grieving, and the human spirit.
Researcher and ISSC Board Member Angela Ronson
Angela, in her early thirties, lost most of her brain when she had a stroke. Most people would have simply died, and then re-expressed their consciousness through a new brain.
Not Angela. She decided to fix her old brain. And after seven years in a coma, she did. Read her inspirational story in the Merced Sun by Clicking Here
The Thougtful Vegetable
Angela now, through social media, works with other survivors of stroke and traumatic brain injury. Her blogs are Nationally recognized for her support for patients having questions on home rehabilitation, social media, navigating Social Services, and all aspects of surviving brain injuries.
Her network includes cutting edge Neuro-scientists working in rehab medicine to Foundations for the Support of Survivors of Traumatic Brain Injury. And if she doesn't know something or someone, it won't be long before she does!

We are always interested in listening to the spiritual and near death experiences of others. We want to understand the "lessons from the light". We want to learn from you.
